Marchon Rescue 911 'Chopper Rescue' road rescue system, 1993.
Marchon had a short life on the slotcar scene, but they really made an effort to make some fun and unusual items. This set is incomplete, but there is enough here to start an interesting layout based on Marchon track, or add to one you may already have. There is a good variety of single lane track in this set which should make for some interesting layout possibilities. The set box is in fair condition, with some water damage only on the back non-illustrated side. Also the open side flap has a tear at the crease for less than half of it's length. The black plastic box insert is still in reasonably good shape. No vehicles are included (the red vehicle shown is no longer available)
Inside the contents include:
1- yellow Rescue 911 helicopter (in good condition) and ride across a metal pole to transport the vehicle across the canyon. The vehicle runs fine on the track, but presumably the top of the chassis is supposed to make the car make a sound or some other effect.
1- 9" terminal straight- it seems like the prongs are not making the best contact with the controller plugs, because you need to put some pressure on the plugs towards one side to maintain electrical contact. Perhaps this can be adjusted by bending the prongs, or just using another terminal track if you have one. The other track includes:
1- 9" straight
2- 9" straight 'mini-split' tracks (like slight chicanes)
2- 9"rad 1/4 circle curves
1- 9" single-cross straight switchover, with yellow hazard markings
1- 15" straight track
Single Lane Track included:
1- 15" single lane straight with yellow hazard markings
2- 15" single lane straights, plain black
2- 6" single lane straights, plain black
2- 3" single lane straights, plain black
10- 6" rad 1/8 circle single lane curves, plain black
The rest of the set contents includes:
2 plug-in black controllers (note problem mentioned above on these)
1- 20 Volt wall-pack
1- metal pole for the helicopter to slide on
Noteably missing from the set are the 2 vehicles, the canyon jump with it's track pieces, as well as the red plastic pole-support pieces seen on the box cover. The instruction manual is also missing. We can't be sure if any track is missing or not from this set, which is why it's probably best to consider this an add-on set rather than a starter set.
Price for everything above is $60.00
Tyco US1 G.I.Joe Electric Trucking High Adventure Set
This is one of the best Tyco US1 trucking sets ever made in terms of play value. The box is in fair shape, with some tape residue along the right end flaps and sides, and a 2 inch piece torn away from the right flap upper corner graphics. The rest of the graphics on the front of the box are quite nice.
The vehicles include:
A blue Cobra Troop carrier truck with caravan vehicle in very good shape just missing the left exhaust stack tip and hood sticker. The truck runs fine. The other vehicle is an olive green Kenworth cab with trailer and rocket, in nice shape, just missing the roof sticker and missing one exhaust stack tip. This one also runs fine.
The track includes:
1- 9" straight
2- 9" single cross straights
2- 15" straights
4- 9"rad 1/4 circle curves
1- 9" turnout track
1- 9" switchable turnout
1- 9" dual speed controller track
1- rocket base terminal straight single lane track
1- single lane track
